There is always an interesting natural phenomenon in Europe. This time around in Rjukan, Norway which is a city without the Sun's light. Although the Sun is shining, the town will remain dark. Why is it so?

The town of Rjukan in the Telemark entrance, in a Valley at the foot of Gaustatoppen. Distance from the city of Oslo, Norway's capital there about 2 hours 30 minutes. Rjukan, actual industrial city and not a town.

However, Rjukan always make a traveler curious. Not because of the landscapes, history or culture, but rather because of the phenomenon of this town are not exposed to sunlight!

As quoted from the official website detik.com Visit Norway, the phenomenon occurred during the 6 months of the year, from about September to March break of winter arrived. Actually, the Sun appears when it but the light is not up to the city.

Why is it so? The answer is because of steep slopes and the mountains that surround the city. The unique moment in other seasons, the Sun's light can instead be shining city. Perhaps, because of its Sun's position alone.

In 1913, the founder of the town of Rjukan, Sam Eyde has a brilliant idea. He's a pity seeing its citizens because it can't feel the sunlight, thus making designing a giant mirror on top of the mountain. Of the mirror that was later reflected sunlight.

Unfortunately, the idea of Sam Eyde cannot be realized because of the cost factor. The technology also advanced, yet make it should bite the fingers. The inhabitants have to willingly ride the gondola to the top of the slopes of the mountain if you want to hit the sun light.

Then later in the year 2013, one of the residents who worked in hydroelectric plants, Martin Andersen got a brilliant idea. He made three special mirror size 17 square meters and placed at the top of the mountain slopes as high as 450 meters. The mirror was used the method of the heliostat.

Heliostat is one new way to harness the Sun's rays as illumination. However, it does not convert heat into electrical energy but only utilize sunlight to reflected into a space as illumination.

Mataari light reflected from the mirrors, can illuminate the city covering an area of 600 square meters. Of course, this is so good news for locals could relax without having to cape-cape rises to the mountain slopes.

Andersen menggelontorkan Fund to 5 million Nok or about Rp 8 billion. Reportedly, as much money as it is obtained from the results of sponsors and Government assistance. Andersen ever rewarded and hailed the locals. The name for his discovery that The Sun was the ' Mirror '.

The town of Rjukan's own estimate of 3,500 inhabitants. Even though we have got the reflected light of the Sun, nonetheless the atmosphere of his city a little dark as night. A unique experience, which can be obtained when traveling to Norway.
